Millbrae Education Foundation joins Silicon Valley Gives on May 3
ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS AND HELP US FUND MUSIC AND TECHNOLOGY FOR 2,700 PUBLIC SCHOOLS STUDENTS! For $0 – $1000+, we invite sponsors to support music and technology in our 5 public schools while visibly promoting your business with a 100% tax-deductible sponsorship of the Millbrae Education Foundation through our Silicon Valley Gives & Millbrae Night Out event on May 3.
Matching Grant sponsors will be publicly recognized from San Francisco to San Jose, with major recognition throughout Millbrae and directly to our district families.
On May 3, the Millbrae Education Foundation joins Silicon Valley Gives (a 24-hour regional day of giving sponsored by Microsoft) and businesses all over Millbrae to fund the music and technology programs at Millbrae’s 5 public schools. The big day will include MEF’s Night Out and public performances from our Taylor band students.
BUSINESS OWNERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS: Become a matching grantor, and your name will be promoted through Silicon Valley Gives, regional media, MEF, in our schools, and all over the City of Millbrae! Find out more. Deadline is April 1.
Last year, MEF was the medium-sized nonprofit with the HIGHEST NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL DONORS out of 84 participating organizations. Let’s do it again this year, and give our students the best public school education in the Bay Area!

Tonight (January 21), MEF will be at the Millbrae School District’s TK/Kindergarten Information Night (6-7pm) and District LCAP Fair (7-8pm) at the Shea Center at Taylor Middle School. Millbrae District lead administrators and teachers will share information regarding their annual update on our District’s LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) goals and action plans.

On November 3, the Millbrae Education Foundation was honored to deliver the largest contribution to the Millbrae School District our history! This $324,103 contribution is currently funding elementary music (TK-5th), 5th grade band, Taylor’s 0-period band, and technology education for students and teachers at Taylor and all 4 elementary schools. For the first time, our Walk-a-Thon will show that we are STRONGER TOGETHER as all 5 schools join community and family to support public school education in Millbrae. The big day of food, fun, family, and music takes place at the Taylor Middle School fields and the Caroline Shea Center.

MEF currently has $335,000 available to fund programs in September. With just a little more help, elementary music; 5th-grade band;and Taylor & elementary computer/digital education will stay in our district next school year.

Thanks to all of the families and community supporters who contributed to better education in Millbrae’s public schools during Second Chance Donation Days, MEF raised $21,000 on January 28-29! Special thanks to our volunteers who made this years 2CDD a great success. We literally cannot do it without you!
As of February 5, 2015, we have raised $213,000 towards music and computer education in our public schools for 2015-16. By June 30, 2015, we need to raise the following amounts to reach fundraising benchmarks:
$137,000 more ($350,000 total): Retain music and tech programs as-is in 2015-16.
$287,000 more ($500,000 total): Expand frequency of music & tech education.
